Have you see it yet?
Take a look, and learn.
Oh, and just in case somehow you saw the post that was here before... it so amazingly doesn't matter any more. Live to be happy, not to hate.

Random musings, part deux
On my mind lately:
Are the Clintons playing fair? I'm thinking not. I don't think there are rules, necessarily, because I can't think of a previous time where the spouse of a President were themselves running for President, but good judgment should come into play here. For Billy to be able to smack other candidates around with his "I used to be President" hammer seems overbearing to me, and reiterates the feeling I've had about the two of them all along; namely, that anything is OK as long as it gets you what you want. Look at their marriage, for crying out loud. Bill was doing all sorts of things to that girl, regardless of whether or not he claimed it was "sex", and Hilary didn't bat an eyelash. Why? Because there's is a marriage of power and ambition, not of love. They got married so that he would have a wife, which you need to be President. They had one child, because a couple without a child wouldn't look right politically. I'm sure Hilary has as many boy-toys as Bill has mistresses, and neither one of them cares, because that's not what they're about.
How can these people possibly represent US? I'm not talking about right wing or left, Democrat or Republican. I'm talking about people who believe in playing fair, in having loving relationships of any kind, in not just seeing other people as tools to meet their own ends.
They scare me.
In other news... did you see Hugo Chavez wants to take over milk production, for crying out loud? Yep, seems that the dairy farmers are trying to sell their milk for enough money to live, and that means selling out of the country, which Chavez calls treason, of all things. He warns that the farmers have to lie down and take it for the good of all people (except, you know those people that are getting screwed by it), or he'll take their farms away from them (for the good of... you get the idea). Funny how "the good of the people" means that someone's taking it in the ass.
Remember, kids, you're only "one of the people" until they want something you have, and then all bets are off. Socialism of that type is a double edged sword; you think it's great that people are forced to give you what they have, until it's your turn to give, at which time it's suddenly a lot less fun. It's greed by any other name, and greed never successfully ran a country.

Al Sharpton: the man, the legend, the hypocritical bigot
If ever anyone ever needed to shut the hell up, it's Al Sharpton, let me tell you.
Someone makes a verbal slip, and he's up on his soapbox, demanding that the poor bastard that made the mistake pay with his or her career.
If he's truly into that, the "one mistake and your out with no recourse" thing, I humbly submit these choice quotes for your review:
"White folks was in caves while we was building empires ... We taught philosophy and astrology and mathematics before Socrates and them Greek homos ever got around to it.”
"As for the one Mormon running for office, those who really believe in God will defeat him anyways, so don't worry about that; that's a temporary situation."
"If the Jews want to get it on, tell them to pin their yarmulkes back and come over to my house"
"We will not stand by and allow them to move this brother so that some white interloper can expand his business."
There. That's FOUR times Mr. Sharpton has made racist, inflammatory, or homophobic comments in public. By his own rules, he should be stripped of any and all public positions he has and never be allowed to speak in public ever again.
So... either put up, or shut up. Either take yourself out, or quit preaching hypocritical, self-serving hatred.
I'm waiting, Mr. Sharpton.

Everything goes awry...
Have you ever come to the conclusion that everything is well and truly fucked?
I had this epiphany of terrified disappointment the other day, when I realized that all the dreams I had for humanity were NOT going to happen any time soon, if at all. The rampant stupidity of everything and everyone around me just overwhelmed me for one brief, shining moment.
Why do we still use fossil fuels? Why do we have to pay so much for health care? Why do we have immigration laws and then ignore them? Why do we allow so many frivolous lawsuits, and why do these people win them? Why do religious fanatics gain power and preach war and hate?
Seriously, we should have space stations and nanotechnology and live to 1000 years in an 18 year old body on a terraformed Mars, not driving internal combustion engines in a smog filled, poorly planned city to be wage slaves to pay for prescriptions that keep us from throwing ourselves off cliffs in despair over our lives! What HAPPENED to everything? Where is our great and glorious future? When did mediocrity win over innovation? How come Atlas isn't shrugging this all off?
If I were a single man, without family, I'd wish this whole, twisted world-wide civilization into a pure, cleansing fire, and start anew with bonobos.

Obama for President
I'm seriously amazed by the fact that I actually want to vote for this guy. The stress read into that sentence should be on the vote part, not on the this guy part. I haven't voted in a long time, mostly because I don't believe the rhetoric that "if you don't vote you can't complain".
Let me state my views on that.
If I offer you either a walnut cookie, or a pecan cookie, but you don't like nuts in your cookies, is that a choice? If I turn down both cookies, and then state that I would like to eat a cookie, if only there were cookies without nuts in them, "if you don't eat a cookie you can't complain" isn't a logical response. I don't like cookies with nuts in them, but you just keep offering them to me. You won't let me make my own cookie; you price the cooking equipment way too high, and every time a new, decent cook that might make decent cookies tries to get into the kitchen, you eviscerate them, making being a cookie chef an almost repugnant idea for decent cooks.
Hence, we get nuts in our cookies, and told we're un-American and un-Democratic when we complain and don't eat.
So, for the longest time, I haven't voted. I don't think I've voted since the first Clinton-Gore run. Haven't felt the desire, truthfully... I felt like I'd just be eating nuts.
Not with Obama, though.
Maybe it's just the fact that the establishment is so fucking scared of this guy, but they can't do anything blatant to him, because it'd be so freaking obvious. It makes him seem like a chef that might just be able to get most of the nuts out of the cookies. I've read his policies, and they appeal to me. There's a lot more to them than just sound bites, too... it honestly seems like this guy has some decent plans.
We'll see if he gets elected. I think it'd rock. Then we'll see if he gets assassinated, and the killing blamed on Islamic terrorists. I wouldn't put it past the PTB.
