On my mind lately:
Are the Clintons playing fair? I'm thinking not. I don't think there are rules, necessarily, because I can't think of a previous time where the spouse of a President were themselves running for President, but good judgment should come into play here. For Billy to be able to smack other candidates around with his "I used to be President" hammer seems overbearing to me, and reiterates the feeling I've had about the two of them all along; namely, that anything is OK as long as it gets you what you want. Look at their marriage, for crying out loud. Bill was doing all sorts of things to that girl, regardless of whether or not he claimed it was "sex", and Hilary didn't bat an eyelash. Why? Because there's is a marriage of power and ambition, not of love. They got married so that he would have a wife, which you need to be President. They had one child, because a couple without a child wouldn't look right politically. I'm sure Hilary has as many boy-toys as Bill has mistresses, and neither one of them cares, because that's not what they're about.
How can these people possibly represent US? I'm not talking about right wing or left, Democrat or Republican. I'm talking about people who believe in playing fair, in having loving relationships of any kind, in not just seeing other people as tools to meet their own ends.
They scare me.
In other news... did you see Hugo Chavez wants to take over milk production, for crying out loud? Yep, seems that the dairy farmers are trying to sell their milk for enough money to live, and that means selling out of the country, which Chavez calls treason, of all things. He warns that the farmers have to lie down and take it for the good of all people (except, you know those people that are getting screwed by it), or he'll take their farms away from them (for the good of... you get the idea). Funny how "the good of the people" means that someone's taking it in the ass.
Remember, kids, you're only "one of the people" until they want something you have, and then all bets are off. Socialism of that type is a double edged sword; you think it's great that people are forced to give you what they have, until it's your turn to give, at which time it's suddenly a lot less fun. It's greed by any other name, and greed never successfully ran a country.
